The re-engineered longterm surgical shoes Neptun and Neptun B by Streifeneder ortho.production GmbH feature remarkably increased patient safety due to their new shoe upper design. The uni-lateral closure-technology prevents friction at the inner sides and makes the shoe a long-lasting day-to-day companion for the patients. The widely opening closures provide simple and fast fitting control. This function is of special importance as many users suffer from loss of sensibility due to diabetic polyneuropathy; i.e. sensations such as pressure, temperature or even pain are not noted quickly enough. Removable EVA-padded insoles with velour covering offer additional comfort and support the prevention of pressure peaks in the area of the foot bottom.
Main purpose of the surgical shoe is to hold large-volume dressings and bandages and to protect these from slipping and especially from the cold and the wet. For this task, the surgical shoe embraces the entire foot- and ankle area with a softly padded shoe upper.
