The ISPO World Congress is convening under the slogan ‘Assistive Technology for All’ for the first time on the African continent. In Cape Town, Streifeneder ortho.production GmbH also plans to present its extensive range of products in the areas of prosthetics, orthotics and material processing on nearly 100 m2 of exhibition area. The World Congress is the most important date on the calendar for the global exchange of information among scientists, medical professionals, engineers and developers. Attracting around 100 exhibitors and over 2,000 expected visitors, the World Congress is expected to be one of the most renowned events in its industry.

The polycentric knee joint KINEGEN stream 3A2500 is lighter, lower and more robust – and also the focus and highlight of Streifeneder ortho.production GmbH. In its new design, it offers maximum operating and wearing comfort for the user thanks to its intelligent features. The axle configuration allows maximum dynamics, while a high-performance hydraulic unit with precise settings ensures tailored joint adjustments for the prosthesis wearer. The lateral buttons allow the wearer to easily and conveniently change between free run and walking mode. In addition to the new prosthetic knee joint KINEGEN.stream, KINEGEN.guard 3A850 and KINEGEN.air-active 3A1800 will also be part of the exhibition.

The Artikon series extended the product range last year for the first time with orthotic joints. High-quality system joints, system rails and system foot bars are needed for constructing dynamic ankle joint, thigh and knee orthoses. The models support perfect guidance for anatomic movements, enhance mobility and help users adapt to an active lifestyle for conditions such as paralysis following ailments such as poliomyelitis, hemiplegia and peroneal palsy. The series combines the simplest fitting and maximum functionality.

Our younger patients benefit from well-fitting models in the series ‘Artikon.junior’. Thanks to the light-weight design and a spring-lock latch, the rails are customised to the needs of children to simplify their everyday lives and leisure. To adjust the orthosis joints accurately, a compatible set of tools and casting dummies for system ankle joints and system knee joints are available.

These durable, high-quality products and any successful orthopaedic enterprise depend on a well-equipped workshop. In this area, Streifeneder ortho.production GmbH not only enjoys years of experience, it also possesses valuable industry know-how. The company gladly shares this competence with other orthopaedic enterprises, thereby offering unique opportunities for planning tailor-made space concepts. Using sophisticated 2D and 3D software, custom visualisations are produced from every feasible perspective. In doing so, the company supports its customer during the entire process and takes care of all relevant steps – from planning and delivery, to the installation of machines and tools. Personalised consulting and examples on the topic of workshop planning and equipment are among the services showcased at the World Congress.

A visit to the ‘Live Workshop’ reveals how high-quality materials give rise to functional products. The team at the training centre of Streifeneder ortho.training runs three daily workshops demonstrating detailed movements and the individual steps of processing a variety of materials. Positioning splints, inlays and orthoses are produced using a new type of thermo-plastic synthetic substance called Streifydur Ortho (polypropylene). The semi-flexible and dimensionally accurate material is processed at 180 – 195 °C and is light, unbreakable and scratch-proof thanks to its properties. It is also perfectly suitable for the use of colouring paper. Colouring paper produced by Streifeneder ortho.production is available in a number of new designs; a number of selected motifs are presented in Cape Town.
Synthetic materials such as Streifyflex (ethylene vinyl acetate) and Streifylen (polyethylene) are likewise on display. Exceptionally malleable Streifyflex is ideal for innovative orthoses and prosthesis restorations, whereas Streifylen is the ideal basis for night splints, positioning splints and corsets. Elastic joints are indispensable as accessories: the small parts are extremely durable and versatile orthosis joints that support movement. They are made of polyurethane and are available in different grades of hardness (75, 85 or 95).
